Raising the Skirt invites applications from all genders to build on the already existing dialogue that the project has unearthed. I would like to invite you to respond to elements of the project but help me expand from the ground up. The project has evoked many questions around gender, the relationship that we have with our genitals and how that affects the way we construct our identities & perceptions, thus affecting the way we relate to our bodies and the bodies of others.
Unfortunately I am just one person and due to a lack of funding i’ve not had the time, money or resources to invest in re-framing the project to stretch out it’s roots, so I am calling out to all cis, queer, trans, intersex, asexual and non-binary people to contribute to the narrative of the project and a particular request to all people of colour to respond and become more involved in the project to create a much more intersectional project as a whole.
By offering your hand as an ally, you will enable me to use the platform that the project has, to create a tree in forest that represents you. I am working towards different strands of funding to set aside dedicated time to develop a strategy for the future of Raising the Skirt and for this I need you.
I am looking for 20-30 people for a Queering the Skirt workshop in December 17/January 18 to establish a steering group for moving forward with a more diverse project.
(All dates TBC, costs will be covered for the event if funding is successful).
