Psychosexual Somatics® Therapy (PSST) is a new, revolutionary, body oriented therapeutic modality to deal with sexual and intimacy issues, developed by Mike Lousada. It is a unique combination of psychotherapeutic and body work disciplines, based on the understanding that most sexual issues manifest in the body but arise from the mind.
PSST is drawn from psychotherapy, bodywork, somatic trauma therapy, clinical sexology and energy psychology. Including the latest cutting edge understandings from neuroscience PSST is ideally suited to safely help resolve client’s sexual, emotional and medical trauma. Through a combination of talk work and bodywork these issues can be resolved, supporting the client to move into a more empowered relationship with their sexuality. A therapeutic process might contain one or more of the following five stages:
1: awareness of blocks to sex and intimacy through psychotherapeutic, cognitive processes 2: somatic awareness through mindfulness and touch techniques 3: removal of emotional and somatic blockages through physical release therapy 4: re-connection to and awakening of the body through sensual touch 5: enabling sexual empowerment through techniques and processes using touch, breath, sound and movement.
